    Celebration of National Science Day 2024

    Science Carnival 2024

    28th Feb to 3rd March 2024 || Gujarat Science City

    1. Gujarat Council of Science City (GCSC), working under the aegis of Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat is emerging as an effective and large-scale science education and popularization platform in the country.
    2. The National Science Day is observed every year on 28th February to mark the novel discovery of Raman Effect by the grate Indian Physicist Sir C. V. Raman on February 28th, 1928. After two years of this discovery, Sir C. V. Raman brought the first Nobel Award for the country. Hence the National Science Day is a great day for Indian Science and scientific community
    3. Since GCSC is mainly promoting and conducting science popularization programme and activities, it is very essential to celebrate the National Science Day in a big way. Since 2007, GCSC has been organizing such week-long program on and around 28th February as a grand programme, attended by large number of school and college students with a large participation of scientific organizations.
    4. Last year, GCSC successfully organized Science Carnival during 28th Feb to 4th March 2023 on very large-scale and conducted various activities such as scientific exhibition, science workshops, popular science lecture, science magic show, light and sound show, planetarium show, 3D Rangoli show, science book fair, sky observation, science demonstrations, screening of scientific films, guided tour to theme pavilions etc. About 68 scientific institutions and organization participated in the exhibition & scientific activities. More than 50,000 students, teachers and general visitors as well as media persons were visited Science City and participated in various activities. The programme was grand success.
    5. In order to have a meaningful celebration along with a wider participation, GCSC organizes five days Science Carnival 2024 to mark the celebration of National Science Day from 28th Feb to 3rd March 2024 at Science City to mark the celebration of the National Science Day. This year the celebration theme is “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat”.
    6. GCSC organizes specific activities and programmes for school children, college students and general visitors including science and technology exhibition, scientific workshop, popular science lecture, hands-on science demonstrations, scientific competitions, hall of fame, hall of maths, Urja learning lab, climate change learning lab, STEM book fair, scientist character role play, center for creative learning, nigh sky observation, science games, scientific film festival, educational visit to theme galleries etc. during the above period so that all can enjoy the programs and to be a part of the science festival.
    7. The above programme has been planned jointly with GCSC and GUJCOST and also it is expected that about 1,00,000 beneficiary/visitors including large number of school and college students as well as teachers, BRC/CRC coordinators, Community Science Centre members, Science Club, Astronomy Club, Nature Club etc from different parts of the state and country will visit Science City and to take benefit of the programme.
    8. Further, GCSC has invited around 100 scientific organizations and institutions as well as innovators and industries from all over the state and country for five day scientific exhibition at Science City for all age peoples. The five days Science Carnival 2024 will organize in different locations such as Vigyan Bhavan, Science Dome, Amphitheatre, Children Activity Center, Aquatic & Robotics Gallery, Planet Earth, Hall of Space & Science and Nature Park at Gujarat Science City.
