    SPECIE NAME:Aulonocara stuartgranti

COMMON NAME OF THE SPECIE: Rubin Red Peacock

LOCATION: Endemic to Lake Malawi, where it is widely-distributed along both east and west coastlines.

HABITAT: Inhabits the so-called intermediate zones, where rocky shores give way to open expanses of sand with scattered rocks.

SIZE: UPTO 13 cm UPTO 0.2 kg

DIET: In the aquarium provide them with a meaty diet; pellets, frozen and freeze-dried daphnia, bloodworms and brine shrimp are excellent choices. Avoid tubifex worms as they contribute to a disease called "Malawi bloat." Shrimp mixes are also a good choice, and if you use the European Shrimp Mix, it costs less than other prepared foods and is just as nutritious.

FACT: These fish are members of the free-swimming Haplochromis group and will form schools. Keeping a breeding harem of one or two males with a number of females makes for a spectacular school of aquarium fish.

DIET:  In the aquarium provide them with a meaty diet; pellets, frozen and freeze-dried daphnia, bloodworms and brine shrimp are excellent choices. Avoid tubifex worms as they contribute to a disease called "Malawi bloat." You can also use shrimp mixes like the European Shrimp Mix, which costs less than other prepared foods and is just as nutritious.

FACT: They make a desirable pet for both beginning and more advanced cichlid aquarists as long as the tank is large enough. Provide open space for swimming along with some caves in which to hide, sleep, or breed. They will eat a meaty diet and have an almost puppy like excitability when being fed, thus adding to their appeal. Frequent water changes will also help in keeping this cichlid.
