DIET: Carnivorous; mainly preys on small fishes, particularly rock-dwelling mbuna cichlids.
FACT: It is a mouthbrooder: after external fertilization, the female picks up the eggs and incubates them in her mouth. It is also commercially important in the aquarium trade.
