Planet Earth


The Planet Earth Pavilion is spread over an area of 9000 sq.m hexagonal grid pattern with a unique dome structure having 50-meter diameter. In fact it is one of the largest domes in India. Importance of natural resources and their conservation is well showcased in this huge pavilion. Highlighting the sobering fact that the Planet Earth is in jeopardy, while our resources are being depleted and the very fabric, balance and stability are being threatened.It aims to create awareness, educate and train people about various types of natural disasters like earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides etc. and to highlight the exquisite beauty and abundant truths of our planet Earth.

THE FLOATING GRANITE BALL

The wonders of science start even before one enters the pavilion. A ball of solid granite weighing 4.5 tons greets the visitor. Do you think you can move the ball of 4 feet diameter that almost weights as much as an elephant? The answer might be no but the water jets actually play with it and keep it alone so that even a small child can move it! The striking visual of a heavy granite ball floating creates a memorable experience that sparks curiosity about the laws of physics. A thin water layer is created between the ball and its base by a 3Hp submersible pump that pushes the water in angular nozzle giving ration to the ball.

EARTHQUAKE EXPERIENCE RIDE

The Earthquake Experience Ride at Gujarat Science City is an educational attraction designed to simulate the experience of an earthquake. Visitors can experience different magnitudes of earthquakes in a controlled environment. The ride typically includes: 1. Simulation of Earthquakes: Using advanced technology, the ride mimics the shaking and effects of various earthquake magnitudes, giving participants a realistic experience. 2. COAL MINES

What does it feel like to enter into the depths of the earth and mining coal, still considered to be primary source for our power needs? An exhibit spread in more than 6000 square feet at base of the Earth pavilion takes the visitors on a ride to one such mine. In pavilion, recreate an authentic mine modeled on Godavari coal fields with actual instruments and machinery that they sourced from mines in Jharkhand and other parts of the country. The Underground Coal Mine where visitors can experience a virtual tour of about 5000 feet below ground level to reach mine. After that they will pass inside the mine where they can see the different types of coal cutting process, coal transportation, and various equipment along with safety measures taken inside the mines.

4D THEATRE ON NATURAL DISASTERS
